Joni A Yoswein
Joni A Yoswein is the President & CEO of Yoswein New York (YNY), a full-service lobbying, governmental affairs and communications firm she founded in 1994. Joni is a former member of the New York State Assembly, having proudly served Brooklyn communities including Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington and Flatbush. During her nearly two decades in public service at senior levels of State and City government, she served as Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the NYS Assembly and was Director of Communications for the Assembly Majority. Joni also has served as Assistant Commissioner for the New York City Department of Aging prior to forming YNY.
Joni has built one of New York’s premier boutique public affairs firms, representing a wide range of institutions, organizations and projects at both the State and City levels. Among the high profile development projects on which YNY has provided guidance are the successful IKEA and Whole Foods stores in Brooklyn, the mixed-use Flushing Commons project in Queens, Industry City in Sunset Park and the revised Two Trees Domino Sugar site in Williamsburg. Institutions and organizations benefitting from YNY’s comprehensive governmental relations and communications services include the NYS Business Council, Brooklyn Public Library, Lyft, Amazon, Chess in the Schools, National Grid, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and NYC Outward Bound Schools.
Jamie Van Bramer
Jamie Van Bramer is recognized in the public affairs world for the innovative, multi-faceted and effective governmental relations and communications campaigns he has created over the past two decades at Yoswein New York. Prior to joining YNY in 1998, Jamie Van Bramer was a Senior Account Executive at Geto & deMilly public relations, where he was responsible for communications strategies for numerous national corporate and institutional clients. Previously, he was Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Assemblyman and Bronx Democratic Leader Roberto Ramirez and has served on the staff of the Speaker of the New York City Council. He holds a Masters of the Arts degree in Public Relations and Public Policy from Boston University. He also helped coach his daughter’s ice hockey team to a state girls hockey championship in 2018.
Jeffrey Denman came to YNY from Bank Street College of Education, where he served as a Change Management Assistant responsible for helping to establish their strategic plan. Prior to that he served in the New York State Assembly as a Legislative Assistant to Assembly Member Walter Mosley. During his time with the Assembly, he worked extensively with elected officials and community based organizations on housing policy and related issues. Jeffrey received a Master of the Arts in Public Policy from Stony Brook University.
Christopher Carroll most recently served as Chief of Staff and Political Director for the American Federation of Musicians Local 802, where he oversaw the union’s strategic planning, politics, legislation and communications. He was also an important member of multiple contract negotiation leadership teams, including for labor agreements with major New York City institutions such as the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic. Prior to his work in organized labor, Chris served at the New York City Economic Development Corporation in public affairs, working on community engagement and communications for projects across the five boroughs. Chris has degrees in Music Performance and Political Science from the Bard College Conservatory of Music and Bard College, and is a life-long musician with a passion for baseball.
Alexis Priester comes to Yoswein New York from the film industry, after working as the Associate Producer and Production Coordinator for a Brooklyn-based independent documentary film company, where she was responsible for all of the day-to-day operations. Her film projects primarily focused on the political landscape of the 1960s. Prior to her work in film, Alexis wrote for a number of online publications and continues to publish pieces on the New York City food scene. Alexis received her Bachelors degree in English Literature from Baruch College.
Glenn Van Bramer
Glenn Van Bramer is an award-winning journalist who merged his successful marketing and public relations firm, New Amsterdam Associates, with YNY in 1994. He is a former senior Congressional policy assistant and Journalism professor at Bennett College.
Sandra Rivera, Esq.
Ms. Rivera represents numerous legal, legislative and regulatory clients before the NYS Legislature, Executive Chamber and NYS agencies. She has more than 15 years of legal and policy experience in state government on issues ranging from legal services and health care to education and economic development. She previously served as a legislative representative for the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and began her public affairs career with the NYS Assembly Majority Leader.
