Shaneek Smith, YNY’s Director of Operations, was recently named one of New York City’s top 40 young professionals by City and State.
The award, which is given to the top 40 rising stars under the age of 40 in New York City government and politics, comes after Ms. Smith was named the firm’s director of operations earlier this year.
Smith, a native of Jamaica, joined YNY in 2013 after working for the New York City Council for several years as a Legislative Clerk in the Office of the Speaker. During her tenure at the City Council, she worked closely with leadership, senior staff and individual Council Members on a wide range of policy initiatives, public hearings and special events.
When asked by City and State, Smith characterized the award as one of her top professional accomplishments.
“I’m very proud of the hard work we did as a team working on behalf of our clients,” she said. “To be acknowledged and my potential being seen by others – that they would deem me worthy of the nomination rises above it all.”
